Description

Heads up! This isn’t technically M855 ammunition. PMC designates its 62 grain full metal jacket as a light armor piercing (LAP) projectile. With that said, the LAP has the same 7 grain steel core insert as an M855. Its nose is even painted green, which means you can treat it just like the M855 you’re already accustomed to.

The M855 projectile is designed to penetrate sheet metal – hence its utility for engaging lightly armored threats in combat. We’re offering this 5.56×45 ammo to folks who like to shoot targets with the slightly heavier bullet, which conserves relatively more momentum so as to reduce the effects of wind drift. This ammo will attract a magnet. It will also put dents in steel targets, so don’t use it to shoot any AR500 plates that you want to leave behind for your grandchildren.

This reloadable and noncorrosive ammo is packaged in a new M2A1 ammo can. It’s not military surplus, but the South Korean military (which PMC manufactures ammo for) surely would have appreciated how the ammo is already loaded on stripper clips and tucked inside bandoliers. Spoon included!

Rifle Ammunition Overview

Most rifle cartridges in use today originated as hunting or military calibers. As such, they typically provide strong medium or long range performance and relatively stout recoil (which may not be felt as such by the user, if a good pad is fitted to the rifle’s stock).

Ammunition for bolt-action and semi-automatic rifles typically uses necked down cases to fire relatively long, low caliber bullets. Cartridges intended for lever action rifles are distinguished by their use of round-nosed (or polymer-tipped) bullets. This allows the cartridges to sit end to end in the tubular magazines of lever actions without risk of accidental ignition.
